Smelly Nelly is a song by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus .

background

The song "Smelly Nelly" comes from the album Hardware , Krokus' fifth studio work at all. The song, which was on position 3 on most editions of the 1981 album - only on the special US-American LP edition, which has a significantly different track list, is position 4 - was written by Tommy Kiefer, Fernando von Arb and Chris von Pipe written together. "Smelly Nelly" was Tommy Kiefer's only songwriting contribution to hardware , and since the lead guitarist was fired immediately after the album was released, it was his last songwriting contribution to the band as a whole. In contrast to other compositions on the album such as “ Rock City"," Easy Rocker "," Winning Man "and" Celebration ", the song, for which no video clip was produced, has not appeared in the live program of the Swiss formation for a long time.

Released as a single

"Smelly Nelly" was after " Rock City " the second regular single from the studio album Hardware and thus Krokus' seventh single overall. Like all its predecessors, the release could not place in any hit list. “Smelly Nelly” was released in two different editions: a German 7 ″ single with cover artwork and a French 7 ″ promo single that was released without special Krokus cover artwork. While the German edition of the single has the song "Burning Bones", which is also on hardware , as the B-side, the French promo version has been supplemented by the B-side "Easy Rocker", which is also on hardware .
