Smith Streeter (born July 14, 1844 in Ontario , Canada , † December 17, 1930 in Thawville , Illinois ) was an American roque player .
biography
Smith Streeter was originally from Canada but moved to Thawville , Illinois in 1884 , where he owned a large farm. He later donated the land where the Thawvilles Congregational Church was built. In 1865 he became a US citizen. At the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis , he was one of four athletes at the Roqueturnier , where he won the silver medal. He was the only player who could win against the Olympic champion Charles Jacobus .
