Snape was the name of a multinational blues rock band around blues veteran Alexis Korner and his colleague Peter Thorup , which existed from 1972 to 1973.

history

Steve Marriott , at the time with Humble Pie, invited Alexis Korner and Peter Thorup on a tour through the USA. They were playing with their big band CCS at the time and were supposed to be the opener for Humble Pie . At the same time, Robert Fripps King Crimson was touring the United States. In Virginia , King Crimson drummer Ian Wallace came to them on stage and played with them. Ian Wallace introduced Korner to his two bandmates Mel Collins and Boz Burrell . With that Snape was formed and King Crimson had to be re-cast.

Accidentally Born In New Orleans and a few singles were recorded, and the live album Live in Germany was released . There were several live appearances on the BBC , but after only a short time the band split again. Apart from Rocket 88 , played in the Korner 1979-1984, this was his last band, at Rocket 88 he was not part of the permanent line-up. Boz Burell went to Bad Company and Mel Collins became a sought-after studio musician.
