Stephen "Steve" Peter Marriott (born January 30, 1947 in Bow , London , † April 20, 1991 in Essex , England ) was a British rock musician . He was the singer, songwriter and guitarist of the British beat band Small Faces (1965-1969) and the blues-rock band Humble Pie (1969-1975).

Career

Marriott was active as a child actor even before the Small Faces and played in the musical Oliver in 1960 at the age of 13 ! With.

After the end of Humble Pie , where he sang and played harmonica, guitar, keyboards, sitar and drums, Marriott began a solo career. He has also accompanied recordings by Johnny Hallyday and Johnny Thunders , the guitarist for the New York Dolls .

Marriott died in his sleep at the age of 44 in a self-inflicted smoldering fire (he forgot to put out his cigarette) in his Essex country house .

A biography of Marriott was published in 2004 under the title All Too Beautiful . The authors are Paolo Hewitt and John Hellier.
