Snipes ( spelling : SNIPES ) is a retail chain for streetwear and sneakers . The company was founded in 1998 with a shop in Essen and is based in Cologne.

history

In 1998 Sven Voth opened his first shop for hip-hop fashion in Essen, where he only sold selected brands from this area. By 2007 there were 22 Snipes stores in Germany that he had built without outside capital. The branches in Austria were opened in 2008 as a franchise with Sport Eybl & Sports Experts . In 2011, Dosenbach-Ochsner AG joined the company as a subsidiary of Deichmann SE and took it over. In 2016, Snipes launched the Onygo offshoot with five stores , which exclusively offers streetwear for women. As a company with strong connection to pop and youth culture occurred in 2017 for the first time as a sponsor of the E-Sports on -Events ESL One in Hamburg.

In 2019, Snipes expanded into the United States. With the takeover of stores of the retail chains Kicks USA in January and Mr. Alan’s in July 2019, the number of stores there grew to 95 branches. The US offices are headquartered in Philadelphia .

Companies

Snipes has over 220 stores in nine countries. The countries in which Snipes is active besides Germany are Belgium, France, Austria , Portugal, Switzerland , the Netherlands , Spain and Italy . The company also operates the Onygo stores , which are aimed exclusively at women. In 2019, Snipes took over 95 stores in the United States.

Snipes sponsors musical and sporting events in various fields. Breakdance and hip-hop as well as BMX and skateboarding are the focus.
