Soca Twins

Soca Twins are a sound system from Berlin , consisting of the DJ Franky Fire and the MC Boone Chatta. Soca Twins were founded in 2002 and are the first Soca sound system from Germany.

Career

Franky Fire has been playing Soca at the Radio Fritz party series United Colors of Soundsystem since 2001 . In 2002 he founded the Soca Twins with DJ Chris the Rock. From May 2002 the duo organized Soca dance evenings in Berlin. In 2003, Chris the Rock left the Soca Twins to concentrate on his Rocketeer Sound project, which had existed since 2001 and was more on reggae and dancehall. He was replaced by MC Tommy. At the end of 2003, the duo founded the music label Soca Twins Productions. In 2005 MC Boone Chatta joined the Soca Twins, which grew into a trio. That same year, the duo produced a mix of Soca show the BBC and put the Summerjam up in Cologne. MC Tommy left the group in autumn 2005. In 2006 the Soca Twins appeared as the first German sound system at the Trinidadian carnival. During the 2006 World Cup in Germany, several Trinidadian Socastars such as Machel Montano or Destra Garcia performed in Germany; The Soca Twins acted as the sound system.

Soca Twins have become internationally known through performances in the USA, Canada, Trinidad , Bermuda, England, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Slovakia and the Netherlands. In national media they have already been described as "one of the world's best Soca Sounds" with "cult status".

At the International Soca Awards 2011 in Port of Spain , Soca Twins won the “International Soca DJ of the Year” award after being nominated for the sixth time in a row. Her Soca mix Addicted 2 Soca won in 2008 in the category “Best Soca DJ Mix”. This makes Soca Twins the first Europeans to receive international recognition in the Soca scene.
