Société Commerciale des Transports et des Ports

Société Commerciale des Transports et des Ports (SARL, SCPT, German trading company for transports and ports AG ) is a state-owned company in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . It was created on December 23, 2010 from the transformation of the ONATRA company into a state-owned stock corporation.

The SCPT operates the ports of Matadi , Kisangani and Kinshasa , the Matadi – Kinshasa railway and river shipping on the Congo .

history

On April 20, 1935, the OTRACO ( Colonial Transport Office ) was founded. It took over the port of Boma and the Mayumbe Railway on July 17, 1935, and the Matadi – Kinshasa Railway on June 1, 1936 . OTRACO also took over UNATRA ( Union Nationale des transports fluviaux , river navigation Kinshasa - Kisangani and Kinshasa - Ilebo ) on September 1, 1936, and the port of Matadi on October 15, 1937 ( Société pour la manutention dans les ports du Congo, MANUCO ), the port of Kinshasa on July 1, 1946, the Kivu Railway (CEFAKI) on July 24, 1946, the port of Banana on January 1, 1955 and the port of CITAS on June 2, 1956. On June 30, 1960, OTRACO was renamed ONATRA ( National Transport Office ). In 1971 it was renamed ONATRAZ ( National Zairean Transport Office ), before ONATRAZ again became ONATRA in 1999. On December 23, 2010 ONATRA became a trading company for transport and ports AG .
