Rafael Bastos (born January 1, 1985 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian football player .

Career

Bastos began playing football at the age of ten at EC Bahia , where he began his professional football career in 2006. After a short time at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte , he moved to Europe in the summer of 2007 and signed with the Portuguese first division club Belenenses Lisbon . With the club he finished the 2007/08 season on a place in midfield. He then joined the league competitor Nacional Funchal from the island of Madeira.

In Madeira he could not assert himself and returned after six months to EC Vitória in his Brazilian homeland. There he was able to win the Campeonato Baiano , the regional championship of Bahia . In the summer of 2009 he moved to Consadole Sapporo in the Japanese second division. At the beginning of 2010 he returned to Europe, where he joined the Portuguese club Sporting Braga , with whom he finished second at the end of the 2009/10 season and thus achieved the best result in the club's history.

In summer 2010 Bastos moved to CFR Cluj in the Romanian League 1 . There he became a regular in the 2010/11 season . After a mixed first year, he won his first title in the following season with the 2012 championship . In January 2013 he moved to al-Nasr in Saudi Arabia. After a year, he returned to Europe in January 2014 and signed with Levski Sofia . His contract was terminated at the end of April and he was without a club for a few months before he signed al Kuwait SC in July 2014 . Figueirense FC brought him to the Brazilian Série A in early 2015 . There he shuttled between the bench and the regular formation. In January 2016 he joined league rival América Mineiro , but left the club after five games again to Chapecoense . It was rarely used there. In October 2016 he moved to the Hatta Club in the UAE Arabian Gulf League . In February 2017 he moved to Botafogo FC (SP) and played in the regional championship. In June 2017 he moved to Buriram United in Thailand.
