Societas de Imitatione Christi

The Societas de Imitatione Christi ( Latin : Institutum Saeculare Societas de Imitatione Christi ; de .: Community of the Imitation of Christ ) is a secular institute of the Roman Catholic Church founded in Austria in 1947 . The institute is located in the “Hohe Warte” seminar house in Vienna and offers 150 accommodation for students . In 1947 it received episcopal recognition.

Basics

The female members of the institute let themselves be guided by the spirituality of Ignatius of Loyola and follow the guiding principle "to find God in all things". Religious duties include celebrating Mass , contemplation , reading of scriptures, and exercising . The institute was founded in order to practice the possibilities of the new evangelization in the new form of secular religious life . Her target group are women from educated circles. The women do not wear any religious costume , live in individual households, small shared apartments or in their families . The preferred professions for exercising the professional apostolate are teachers , doctors , carers , writers and artists . The field of work includes lay pastoral care in the spiritual and scientific field, student support for middle and university students in Vienna, cooperation in the press and literature and finally participation in the external and internal mission .

The Haus Hohe Warte 46 in Vienna is home to the center of the institute and offers accommodation for students. It was inhabited by Sigmund Freud and his family in the summer of 1933 .

In 2000 the "Haus Hohe Warte 46" was completely rebuilt. Previously it served as a boarding school; today, retreats, days of reflection, house music evenings and concerts are held. Further offers are icon painting courses , work in self-awareness groups and supervision .
