Sociology is the British Sociological Association's sociological journal . Sociology is one of the leading sociology journals worldwide. It is described by Anthony Giddens as "one of the leading journals in the social sciences" and by John Brewer as "the flagship journal of the British Sociological Association and the UK's premier sociology journal ". For 2013, the journal had an impact factor  of 1.348 and was therefore 28th out of 137 journals in the sociology category in the statistics of the Social Science Citation Index .

Founded as a quarterly magazine in 1967, it has been published every two months since 2006 with six issues a year. In addition to original articles from all areas of sociology, she publishes research notes and a review section with review essays and individual discussions.
