Sodecia Kemmerich (proper spelling: SODECIA Kemmerich) is a company active in metal processing and the international automotive industry with around 1,000 employees worldwide. Sodecia Kemmerich specializes in the conception, construction and production of high-quality stamped, drawn and bent parts from different materials with the demand for lightweight construction. In addition to the headquarters in Attendorn and the plant in Niederau- Gröbern (near Dresden ), Sodecia Kemmerich has branch plants in Valencia (Spain), Valasská Polanka (Czech Republic) and, since 2015, a plant in Auburn (Alabama).

history

The company was founded by Albert Kemmerich in Attendorn in 1897 and has been family-owned for a long time. The entrepreneurial focus was initially on the production of needles and shafts. In 1920 Wilhelm Kemmerich joined the company and the name “Gebr. Kemmerich ”was created. In 1945 the company already had five employees. In 1951 the development and production of wire and sheet metal, unwinding and winding reels began. Thirteen years later, the company made first contacts with the automobile manufacturer Ford . In 1986 Josef Kemmerich joined the company. In 1993 the company set up a tool shop near Dresden . In 1996 a new plant was added in Spain . In 2002 a new press shop was built at the home location, which was expanded three years later. Another plant was opened in the Czech Republic in 2008 . In 2010 the mechanical engineering division was closed. In 2012, the production area at Kemmerich Czech was doubled and in 2015 another plant was opened in Auburn, Alabama. On June 3, 2016, the company filed for insolvency proceedings with the Siegen local court . In September 2016 the takeover of the Kemmerich Group by the Portuguese Sodecia Group from Maia was announced. As a result of the takeover, the Attendorn company operates under the name Sodecia Kemmerich GmbH .
