Sofia Exarchou

Sofia Exarchou ( Greek Σοφία Εξάρχου , * 1979 in Athens ) is a Greek film director and screenwriter .

Life

Sofia Exarchou was born in Athens. She studied electrical engineering at the local Polytechnic and film directing at the Stavrakos Film School and also took acting classes at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York. She also completed a film degree at the École Supérieure d'Audiovisuel in Toulouse.

Since 2004 she has been working as an assistant director for feature films and commercials. After directing and scripting two short films, Distance and the award-winning Mesecina , she participated in the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and Directors Lab in 2014. Park , which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2016 , is her first feature film.

In spring 2020 Exarchou will participate in the planned Cannes Cinéfondation Atelier.
