The Soft Gold Computer Games GmbH was a publisher of computer games . The company was founded in 1985 by Hans Rabe and Juergen Goeldner in Kaarst and was a subsidiary of the Rushware company , at that time one of the largest distributors of computer games in Europe. Softgold was responsible for the license business within the group of companies. The first licensing successes were Winter Games and Summer Games from Epyx . Equally important was the license agreement with Lucasfilm Games , which also included the translation of the games into German.

From 1992 Softgold belonged to Funsoft Holding. In 1998 Softgold was sold to THQ together with Rushware . In 2000 the two companies became THQ Entertainment GmbH, the company's German publishing arm.
