Sokograd (fortress)
The Sokograd Fortress is a medieval castle ruin in Serbia near the spa town of Sokobanja , in the Opština Sokobanja .
history
The fortress was built in the 14th century on a mountain above the Sokobanjska Moravica river . Archaeological excavations indicate that the castle was built on the foundations of an older complex from the 4th to 7th centuries.
The castle was conquered by the Ottomans in 1459 .
The remains of the castle are now a listed building.
