preface

An editor's fiction is constructed in a preface : the narrator reports on having stumbled across the estate of Diogenes von Sinope in an old monastery library , namely a Latin translation of the Arabic translation of the Greek original, which he translated into German . He wanted to correct the negative image that many have of Diogenes.

content

In individual episodes, some of which are reproduced in dialogue form , Diogenes describes encounters with fellow human beings. Regardless of his strange behavior, he appears again and again as a reasonable, philanthropic and above all frugal person. In an ironic tone he reveals the weaknesses of his fellow men.
