The Eiche solar park is a solar park in Ahrensfelde-Eiche , Germany , near Berlin . The plant has an output of 26.5 MWp and covers a total area of 73 hectares. The solar park, which went into operation in 2011, was built on the site of a former sewage sludge drying plant from Berliner Wasserbetriebe, which was previously idle. Around 226,000 individual solar modules were installed . When it was built, it was the largest photovoltaic system in Germany, and it is still in the top ten in terms of size. The aim is to operate for at least 20-25 years. The annual standard energy capacity is almost 26 million kWh .
