The Oberwölbling military cemetery is a military cemetery above the center of Oberwölbling , about 12 km north of the Lower Austrian capital St. Pölten on the eastern edge of the Dunkelsteiner Forest . 4059 fallen from the Second World War from 362 Lower Austrian communities found their final resting place here. The dead fell in fighting in the area in the last weeks of the war in April and May 1945.

The approximately 15,000 m² cemetery is divided by an embankment into two parts that rise slightly towards the edge of the forest. On the individual graves there are simple granite crosses of the same appearance, in which, as far as is known, the names and life dates of the buried are engraved, on the highest flank of the site there is a high metal cross with a bell.

The cemetery was consecrated on September 17, 1983 and handed over to the Austrian Ministry of the Interior at the beginning of 2011 .
