Solomon Gafabusu Iguru I (* 1948 in Hoima , Uganda ) is Omukama (King) of the Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara .

Life

Solomon Gafabusu Iguru was born in 1948 as the son of the then Omukama Sir Tito Gafabusa Kabalega Winyi from Bunyoro in Hoima (Uganda). He comes from the Babiito family .

Solomon Gafabusu Iguru spent his youth in his homeland before he had to go into exile in 1967 due to the political situation in the country. From 1967 to 1982 he studied at Oxford University . During this time he was engaged in several different studies of the country.

In the following years the political situation in Uganda changed several times. The parliament changed the constitution of the Republic of Uganda by resolution in 1993 , so that the original monarchies of the states of Uganda were officially restored. These now took on cultural and traditional tasks.

On June 11, 1994 he was crowned King ( Omukama ) of the Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara. The President of the Republic of Uganda, Museveni , also took part in the coronation ceremony .

Solomon Gafabusu Iguru I. is committed to humanitarian projects for his people and is committed to the poor. He is also a member of the Royal and Merciful Association of Medal and Order Bearers of Belgium . He was honored and accepted for his humanitarian commitment. Since 2016 Solomon Gafabusu Iguru I. is the protector of the Heraldry Society of Africa based in Hoima, which is scientifically one of the leading institutions for heraldry in Africa.
