Hoima is a city in western Uganda with about 39,644 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Hoima district of the same name .
The city is the center of the Bunyoro people . The Mparo Tombs , the tombs of the last kings ( Omukama ) of the Bunyoro, are about 4 km outside of Hoima near Mparo . In addition, the city is the seat of the Catholic diocese of Hoima .
