history

In December 1893, Henry Edward Colville led a military offensive against the town of Mparo and the resident Omukama Kabalega . Since Kabalega could not do anything against the British overwhelming power of more than 20,000 mainly African fighters, he set Mparo on fire and subsequently switched to guerrilla tactics .

A historic meeting between Emin Pascha and Kabalega took place in Mparo, which is now commemorated by a plaque.
