Soltborg ( East Frisian Platt : Salzburg ) is the name of a residential area in Holtgaste , a district of the municipality of Jemgum . It is made up of large and small Soltborg. The latter is on a terp in the Emsmarsch, while Großsoltborg is on a moo (estuary) between Klein-Soltborg and Bingum on the Ems. There is a bathing lake about eight meters deep in the village. Adjacent to this is a beach volleyball court, a wide lawn for sunbathing and a sandy beach 100 meters long. The proximity to the A 31 favors a large industrial area in which a large number of companies have settled.

history

The place is first mentioned in 1432 as Zoltburch . The name Soltborch has been handed down from 1437 . The current spelling has been used since around 1900. From the 17th century onwards there were brickworks in the place, which gave the place great economic importance by the 18th century at the latest. At the height of economic development there were seven brickworks in the two parts of the village. In Groß-Soltborg in the first half of the 19th century there were two farms in which twelve residents lived. In 1823 there were 83 inhabitants in Klein-Soltborg, 25 years later there were 104 people.
