Jaroensiri Somhasurthai

Jaroensiri Somhasurthai ( Thai : สม หฤทัย เจริญ ศิริ ; born November 15, 1971 in Nakhon Pathom ) is a former Thai badminton player .

Athletic career

In 1992 Jaroensiri Somhasurthai started in the women's singles for the first time at the Olympics. There she won her first round match against Joy Kitzmiller from the USA and also the second game against Christine Magnusson . In the third round game against Pernille Nedergaard , she was also successful, but lost in the quarterfinals against Susi Susanti and was fifth. At the 1996 Olympics, she failed in round two and came in 17th.

National she won for the first time at the Thai championships in 1987 both in women's doubles with Piyathip Sansaniyakulvilai and in women's singles. Seven further single titles, eight double titles and one mixed title followed by 1997. In the last year she won bronze with Saralee Thungthongkam at the Southeast Asian Games .
