Somuncu Baba
Hamîdüddin Aksarâyî (* 1331 in Akçakaya , Kayseri ; died 1412 in Darende , Malatya province ), better known by his nickname Somuncu Baba , was an ascetic teacher and scholar who mainly worked in the Turkish city of Bursa . He is venerated by many as a Muslim saint . His real name was Abdullah.
He received his first instruction from his father, Sheikh Şemseddin Musa. He then studied in Damascus.
He was one of the Mürschids of Safi - Tariqa - Sheikhs Hodscha Alā ad-Dīn Alī and exerted a great influence on the Islamic world of that time. Somuncu Baba taught at the Ulu Cami of Bursa, where he was hired as a teacher by the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I after she was completed. Among Somuncu Baba's disciples and the scholars he trained were personalities such as Molla Fenari and Hacı Bayram-i Veli , the founder of the Bayramiyye order.
