Hemau special ammunition depot

The Hemau special ammunition depot was located 3 km southwest of Hemau in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg in Bavaria near the General von Steuben barracks of the Bundeswehr .

The camp existed from April 1, 1966 to June 29, 2003 and had several bunkers . Nuclear ammunition of the 4th PzGrenDiv , based in Regensburg, was stored here under the guard of US armed forces and members of the German Armed Forces , including nuclear warheads for the Honest John weapon system and for the M109 self-propelled howitzers and the M110 howitzer, as well as nuclear pioneer ammunition in the form of small and medium mines .

Today the area is used as a solar park .
