In Germany, a special use permit is an official approval for the use of public transport ground by one or more people as well as objects beyond the common use of streets , paths and squares . It is issued by the responsible local government on request and is an administrative act and can be provided with ancillary provisions . In principle, there is no entitlement to a grant. If necessary, guidelines of local law ( statutes ) must be taken into account.

Special use permits are generally required for construction sites, information stands , exhibitions, customer stoppers , billboards (including election posters and stickers ) and, depending on the statutes, artistic performances.

If there is an unauthorized special use , this can be punished as an administrative offense depending on national law.
