Song Shu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Song Shu ( Chinese  宋 書  /  宋 书  - "Book of Song") is a historical work that describes the time of the Chinese Earlier Song Dynasty in 100 volumes and thus deals with the period from 420–479 AD. It is the 6th work from the Canon of the 24 Dynasty Stories and was written by Shen Yue (441-513) during the Liang Dynasty .

Parts of the work had already been lost by the time of the Later Song Dynasty and were reconstructed using material from the history of the Southern Dynasties and small annals. The original text was most likely subject to foreign political influences (such as the Xianbei ) and is inconclusive in many places.
