Sonila Malaj (stage name: Soni , born November 9, 1981 in Tropoja ) is an Albanian pop singer from Tirana . Your musical style goes from pop to RNB to ethno . She learned ballet . It got into the international tabloid press through the rumor that the winning title of the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 was a plagiarism of one of her songs.

Private

Soni spent the first nine years of her life in her hometown Tropoje, but after the political system in Albania switched from communist to democracy, Malaj and her family moved to the capital, Tirana. There she finished the 8-year elementary school, the secondary school with a focus on foreign languages, where she learned French.

She recognized her talent in her childhood, so she was part of various children's festivals in Tropoje, where she was among the top 3. At the age of 14, Sonila sang for an Albanian record company. Her soulful voice, which was still young at the time, caught the eye immediately, the producers of the record company wanted to promote Malaj's talent.

Later she auditioned for the same record company to become part of a band that included: Brikel Guga, Angjelina Gilardi, Larisa Vrana, Dorina Nizami and Sonja Malaj. She was the youngest of the band. Soni attracted attention not only because of her extraordinary voice, but also because of her talent for dancing and her demeanor. In 1997 the band performed for the first time at a festival. 1998 left. In 2000 the band broke up.

Music career

Her greatest successes were Do Të Vij (2007) and Të Dua Ty (2006). In 2010 her third album Unik was released .
