The partial solar eclipse of December 25, 2000 was the last of four partial eclipses in 2000 and also the last of a total of 228 solar eclipses in the 20th century . As the only one of the four solar eclipses in 2000, it could be observed comfortably at noon from relatively densely populated areas ( USA and Mexico ). However, their maximum phase was only reached near the horizon in sparsely populated northern Canada.
