Raukatara is a small settlement in the Kaikoura District of the Canterbury regionon the South Island of New Zealand .

geography

The settlement is located around 19 km northeast of Kaikoura on Half Moon Bay and thus on the coast of the Pacific Ocean . The New Zealand State Highway 1 and the South Island Main Trunk Railway run north between the settlement and the coast . Closest settlements are Clarence , around 15 km northeast and Hapuku , around 8 km southwest.
