The Sooty Cove is a bay on the south coast of Bird Iceland before the north-west tip of South Georgia . It is located immediately north of Shoemaker Point .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it after the light-mantled albatross ( Phoebetria palpebrata , English Light-mantled Sooty Albatross ), one of the breeding grounds Bird Iceland.
