The Sooty Valley (from English sooty , sooty, blackened ) is a valley on the island of Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean . It lies between a lateral moraine southeast of Brown Lagoon and low cliffs at the northeast end of Skua Beach .
Australian scientists made the naming of the valley.
