Sophia Maier

Sophia Maier (born August 18, 1987 in Munich ) is a German journalist and photographer . She lives and works in Cologne . She has been a reporter for the stern TV format since 2016 .

Maier gained notoriety through her reports from European refugee camps, which were picked up on the television program stern TV and other media. In 2016, in the Idomeni camp on the Greek-Macedonian border, she was one of the few journalists who managed to covertly report on the spot during the eviction. She shared her experiences several times with politician Norbert Blüm live on stern TV. In December 2018, she smuggled herself into the Moria refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos to uncover the grievances there.

In addition, Maier became known to a wider public through her reporting on the riots in Chemnitz in September 2018. She experienced multiple attacks on journalists on site.
