Sophie Moniotte (born May 5, 1969 in Dijon , Burgundy ) is a former French figure skater who started in ice dancing .

Her ice dance partner was Pascal Lavanchy . At his side she won the silver medal at the European Championships in 1995 and the bronze medal in 1997 . The greatest success of Moniotte and Lavanchy, however, was the runner-up world championship title in Chiba in 1994 , when they only had to admit defeat to Russians Oxana Grishchuk and Yevgeny Platov . At the World Cup the following year, they won the bronze medal. Moniotte and Lavanchy took part in three Olympic Games . In 1992 in Albertville they finished ninth, in 1994 in Lillehammer they reached fifth place and in 1998 in Nagano they reached eleventh place.
