Soultans , also called The Soultans , is an R&B and soul vocal trio that has been in existence since 1995 .

Career

Femi Oladeji (vocals), Scott Winter (vocals until 1999) and the American Marvin Broadie (vocals until 1999) were the singers when the band was founded in London in 1995.

With Can't Take My Hands off You and the cover version of the Motown classic I Heard It Through the Grapevine , the band had two titles in 1996 with positions in the top 20 of several European charts. The British-American group, but based in Germany, released their debut album Love, Sweat and Tears in the spring of 1997 on the German label Coconut Records .

In 1999 two of the three members changed. In addition to Femi Olakeji from the original cast, Danny Campell from London and Johan van Rooy from the Netherlands joined the Soultans. This line-up released the album Tribute to Soul in 2001 on BMG .

Also in 2001 the Soultans took part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest in Hanover with Set Me Free , a song by the author duo Tony Hendrik and Karin van Haaren ( Haddaway ), but did not get beyond the preliminary round.

In the following years mainly compilations were published. From 2002, alongside Femi Olakeji, the two singers Sascha van Haasen and Mike Marshall were members of the Soultans.
