SOUNDCHECK - das Bandmagazin is a German special interest magazine for band musicians.
It has been published since 1984. The magazine's target group is musicians who play in a band and people who are interested in lighting and sound technology on small to medium-sized stages or in studio and audio recording. Each issue contains stories and interviews about professional productions and live shows, as well as product tests of instruments and musical equipment. SOUNDCHECK is not limited thematically to a specific instrumental group.
Rubrics
News: The news section is divided into product presentations and reports from the music and pro audio scene.
Stories: The magazine section features portraits of musicians and bands, and reports from live concerts.
Special: Three-part special section of each issue. It consists of a general treatise on the changing and mostly complex subject areas and, with the "Seven Golden Rules", also contains a checklist for avoiding errors and solving problems, as well as buying advice on the respective focus under the third heading, "Going to buy".
Workshops: The workshop section contains hands-on instructions on various aspects of making music in a band. For example, in the “Producers Secrets” workshop, the tricks and tricks of producers and sound engineers are explained during an ongoing audio production.
Tests: This is where instruments - e.g. B. guitars, drums, keyboards - but also amplifiers, loudspeakers or monitor boxes, microphones or effects devices, as well as stage lights and other light effect devices.
Frequency of publication
The magazine appears monthly at PPVMEDIEN. The main focus alternates between instrumental and equipment-related topics. Several times a year, SOUNDCHECK also comes with a supplement that contains changing topics and style-specific specials. One of the supplements mentioned is entitled “DJ Universe” and deals with current topics - sounds, scene, technology - from the international DJ scene. The SOUNDCHECK supplements are included with the parent magazine and in addition to a number of other publications such as Guitar , Keys , Recording Magazin , etc. published by PPVMEDIEN . The issue is sold through subscriptions , kiosks and music stores.
