Sounds (radio broadcast)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sounds! is a music program on the Swiss radio station SRF 3 that primarily aims to present new products. It runs Monday to Friday from 10 p.m. to midnight. A wide variety of styles from indie rock, folk, singer / songwriter to pop to electronica and hip-hop are played.

Sounds has existed since 1976. Initially, as a niche for young music on DRS 2 (now Radio SRF 2 Kultur ), Sounds! Integrated into the new program when DRS 3 (now Radio SRF 3 ) was founded in 1983. With the slogan "'Sounds!' Isch d'Sistent, where we save us from a television program ", the program described its concept as a love of radio and new music. When DRS 3 was reoriented in 2002, the program was dropped from the program and from then on ran on the young DRS Virus (now Radio SRF Virus ). However, due to protests, Sounds returned to DRS 3's programming and was broadcast on both channels in parallel. Since Virus was restructured in 2006, the program has only been broadcast on Radio SRF 3 again.

The "Sounds! - Record of the Week" is presented each week in the program. So-called “Sounds! Classics” are also often played: songs from the recent past that relate to the newly introduced pieces. In addition to music, Sounds also offers interviews with artists and bands as well as other specials at irregular intervals. In addition, in 2003 and 2005 the editorial staff of the show produced the compilation CDs Sounds! Volume One and Sounds! Volume Two published.

The program is moderated and editorially managed by Matthias Erb, Andi Rohrer and Luca Bruno. Urs Musfeld was editor-in-chief of the show until April 2017 . After 40 years of editorial activity, Musfeld retired.
