The South Africa Sevens are a tournament as part of the World Rugby Sevens Series , a series of competitions in rugby seven . It has been held in the Cape Town Stadium since 2015 .
Venues
The first edition of the South Africa Sevens took place in 1999 at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch . In 2000 and 2001 the tournament was held at Kings Park Stadium in Durban , before the tournament was moved to Outeniqua Park in George in 2002 . The tournament took place there nine times before being moved to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth in 2011 . After four editions, the 2015 tournament was moved to Cape Town in the Cape Town Stadium.
