South Cerney

South Cerney is a municipality in the District Cotswold in the county of Gloucestershire , a few kilometers south of Cirencester , close to the border with Wiltshire .

The place has (2001) 3074 inhabitants and is located on the River Churn in the Cotswold Water Park , an area with more than 140 lakes, which were formed by gravel mining , and are now partly used as a recreational area.

South Cerney was founded in 999.
