The South Devon is a breed of cattle from the county of Devon in England , Great Britain . In Great Britain the breed is listed as potentially endangered on the watch list of the British Rare Breeds Survival Trust .

The South Devonian cattle are the UK's largest beef breed. Its origins probably go back to the 16th century; the "South Devon Herdbook Society" was not founded until 1891.

South Devon cattle are copper red in color.

Today they are spread around the world and have proven to be a very useful breed of meat.
