Soutpansberg ( Afrikaans for 'Salzpfannenberg', Zoutpansberg in older Dutch spelling ) is a mountain range in the Limpopo Province in northeastern South Africa and the northernmost mountain range in South Africa.
The Soutpansberg extends over approx. 250 kilometers in a west-east direction south of the border with Zimbabwe , the extent in a north-south direction is between 15 and 60 kilometers. In the western half, the mountains Hanglip ( 1719 m ) and Lajuma ( 1748 m ) are at their greatest heights. In this part there is also the nature reserve Western Soutpansberg Conservancy with an area of 90,000 hectares. The Blouberg Mountains adjoin to the west.
The mountain range is named after the salt pan at its western end. It was the namesake for the short-lived Boer republic Zoutpansberg .
