Soviet Constitution of 1924

The Soviet Constitution of 1924 ( Russian Конституция СССР 1924 года ) was the first constitution of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics . It was passed on July 6, 1923 by the II. Session of the Central Executive Committee (CIK) of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and entered into force on January 31, 1924. The Soviet constitution of 1924 was the first all-Russian constitution since the basic state laws of the Russian Empire . It was replaced by the constitution of 1936 ("Stalin Constitution").

Constitutional content

The constitution consisted of the preamble and two sections. The second section is divided into 11 chapters. In total, the constitution has 72 articles.

First section: Declaration on the establishment of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
