Sozialersinn is a peer-reviewed journal for hermeneutic social research that has been published since 2000. Until 2004 there were three issues a year, since 2005 the magazine has been published every six months. Until the end of 2015 it was published by Lucius & Lucius , and since then by De Gruyter .

According to its own information, the journal sees itself as a discussion forum for hermeneutic social research. It brings together contributions from the field of social and cultural sciences , the common focus of which is the meaningful interpretation and reconstructive explication of phenomena of social reality. The content of the material analysis, the theoretical content and the method-critical explication of the object of investigation are the primary criteria.

According to H-Soz-Kult (2010), there was no journal forum for a broad, interdisciplinary debate on the further development of hermeneutic research methods and material theory formation. The magazine Sozialersinn wants to close this gap .

The editors of Zeitstufe are (as of 2017): Stefan Kutzner (Siegen), Chantal Magnin (Lucerne), Claudia Scheid (Bern), Mirja Silkenbeumer (Frankfurt am Main) and Andreas Wernet (Hanover).
