Lucius & Lucius was a science publisher for economics and social sciences based on Gänsheide , Stuttgart . It was run by the publishers Akka and Wulf D. von Lucius .

The range included textbooks, scientific monographs and magazines as well as yearbooks from the aforementioned areas. The publishing company was founded in 1996 and emerged from the takeover of the relevant program from Gustav Fischer Verlag , after this had largely been merged with the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group in the same year . In the summer of 1999 the program was expanded to include the entire sociology sector of the F. Enke publishing house .

The publisher was a member of UTB GmbH, also based in Stuttgart and co-founded by Wulf D. von Lucius , a joint venture of German-language academic publishers. This publishes the university paperbacks , which primarily serve the target group of students and scientists. The range of publishing houses in 2010 comprised around 450 available titles from the pocket textbook in the UTB series to monographs and scientific series as well as 15 scientific journals. The publisher's delivery was guaranteed by the Brockhaus / Commission ( Kornwestheim ). Lucius & Lucius Verlagsgesellschaft appeared as a supporter and sponsor of the Hohenheim University Library .

On January 1, 2016, Lucius & Lucius was taken over by the de Gruyter publishing group . At that time, the new publisher took over around 300 available titles and 16 magazines and announced that it would make parts of the 2000 out of print titles available digitally.
