Socialist brother countries
The members of the Warsaw Pact or the members of the Council for Mutual Economic Aid referred to each other as socialist brother countries or states . In a broader sense, it was also applied to other states that had a socialist social order or were striving towards communism . But since in many countries not bound by the treaty the ideological orientation often changed with a change of power, the circle of socialist brother countries was exposed to constant change.
