Space Command was the first Canadian science fiction television series and was broadcast live from the CBC studio in Toronto in 1953/54 in the English-speaking area of ​​the country . The model was the American series Captain Video and His Video Rangers . With the exception of one episode, the series is considered lost , although the live broadcasts were recorded using a kinescope . One of the main characters was James Doohan . Allegedly William Shatner appeared in several episodes, but this is not certain.

Apparently only one episode has survived. It is believed that the remaining kinescope recordings, probably 16 mm film material , were destroyed for silver extraction in the early 1970s .
