Space Mountain is a dark roller coaster in the Magic Kingdom amusement park , located in Walt Disney World Resort , Florida . It was developed by WED Enterprises (now Walt Disney Imagineering ) and opened on January 15, 1975. The basic principle was the model for four other Space Mountain attractions in other Disneyland parks worldwide.

The building has the shape of a truncated cone and measures over 54 m to the tip of the antenna with a diameter of about 91 m. Inside the Space Mountain there are two independent routes, the layout of which is exactly mirror image. The two routes Alpha and Omega each have a length of 971 m and reach a height of 27 m. The maximum speed is 44 km / h. The trains each have two cars with space for three people each (one row).
Originally, Space Mountain was sponsored by RCA and later by FedEx . The attraction has been operated without a sponsor since 2005.
