The former Stadtsparkasse Gevelsberg emerged from the Sparkasse for the Ennepe office, which was founded on September 10, 1857 and approved by the Upper President of the Province of Westphalia on October 5, 1857. In 1926 a savings bank association was founded. From now on, the Sparkasse carried the name: Sparkasse der Stadt Gevelsberg and the Ennepe zu Gevelsberg office. In the course of the city development of the city of Ennepetal, the Zweckverbandssparkasse of the city of Gevelsberg and the Ennepe zu Gevelsberg office were dissolved. Since December 30, 1949, it was continued as Stadtsparkasse Gevelsberg while maintaining the public corporation. In 2017, the Sparkasse merged with Stadtsparkasse Wetter to form Sparkasse Gevelsberg-Wetter .
