List of savings banks in Austria

The Sparkasse Pregarten-Unterweißenbach AG is an Upper Austrian banking company based in Pregarten and part of the savings bank group in Austria . It was created in 1895 as a community savings bank. In 1980 the merger with Sparkasse Unterweißbach took place . The Sparkasse is a member of the cooperation and liability association of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian savings bank association .

Founding history

At the beginning of the 1890s the plan to found a savings bank in Pregarten emerged. The then kk district judge of Pregarten, Eugen R. von Massary, called all the house owners of the market to a meeting. On Sunday, June 25th, 1893, 32 house owners decided unanimously to set up a "Sparkasse der Marktkommune". At the beginning of November, the municipal committee also passed a resolution to found a savings bank. At the end of April 1894, the community agreed to assume liability. At the end of July, the elaborated statutes received official approval, the opening could be celebrated in early January 1895.

Structural development of the main institute

The first Sparkasse bar was in Pregarten No. 12. In 1899 the Sparkasse moved to the parish hall No. 10, where it was rented. In 1909 the houses No. 53-55 were acquired and in 1910 the office was moved to the first floor of house No. 53 (today "Böhm"). The year 1936 saw a complete renovation and expansion of the location, which became necessary due to the growing volume of business. In 1956 the "Altzinger Haus" No. 34 (today Stadtplatz 20) was bought and in 1957 the savings bank operations started in this house. 1996 Opening of the newly built main facility at Stadtplatz No. 19.

In 2003, the company was converted into an AG and the shares were transferred to a private savings bank foundation.
