List of savings banks in Austria

The Sparkasse Reutte AG is a Tyrolean banking company based in Reutte and part of the savings bank group in Austria . It was created in 1917 as a community savings bank. The Sparkasse is a member of the cooperation and liability association of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian savings bank association .

Sparkasse Reutte AG

The first initiatives to found a savings bank can be traced back to 1885. The founding of the savings bank by the market town of Reutte was preceded by efforts by the market town of Reutte to set up a savings bank together with several Ausserferner communities. The market town of Reutte therefore refrained from founding its own community savings bank, because the establishment of a district savings bank was in prospect. However, since these first approaches in 1885, 32 years would pass before the project of an independent community savings bank could be realized. On January 23, 1917, the community presented the approved statutes for the establishment of a savings bank to the "Tyrolean State Committee". In a letter dated January 27, 1917, the "Provincial Committee of the Fürsteten Grafschaft Tirol" informed the community that the establishment of a savings bank would be approved under the liability of the market town of Reutte. Only at the beginning of 1918 could concrete measures be taken to open the Sparkasse.

Structural development of the main institute

On January 21, 1918, the Sparkasse was opened in the Tauscherhaus in the former premises of the "Centralsparkasse". These rooms were used for 45 years. On March 23, 1963, the Sparkasse moved to the building of the electricity company in Untermarkt 33 and was there until December 1975. Today, the premises, which had been renovated in 1992, are the Sparkasse branch / Untermarkt with a modern self-service zone. After a construction period of 24 months, the building of the newly built main institution of Sparkasse Reutte, in Obermarkt 51, was completed and occupied in December 1975. Several conversions in the office and counter area have been carried out in recent years. Due to the steady growth of Sparkasse Reutte, the building opposite the main institution, Obermarkt 24, was purchased in 2002. Sparkasse Reutte has 6 branches in the Reutte district: Untermarkt, Lechaschau, Tannheim, Elbigenalp and Lermoos, as well as Sparkassen Private Banking and wohn² Center in Obermarkt 24, 6600 Reutte.

Private foundation Sparkasse Reutte

On September 20, 2006, the savings bank council of Sparkasse Reutte unanimously decided to transfer Sparkasse Reutte into a stock corporation and to convert the remaining share management savings bank Reutte into a private foundation. This decision was confirmed by the local council on Tuesday, October 17, 2006. The aim of this historic decision is to secure the independence of Sparkasse Reutte and to create clear legal and organizational foundations. Sparkasse Reutte will perform its charitable tasks in the Reutte district in line with the founding concept of the time. Sparkasse Reutte is dedicated to the common good that characterizes all savings banks. It stands for the promotion, support and further development of the region and provides impetus for future developments in regional and socio-political infrastructure.

Sparkasse Reutte AG continues to shape the region through the private foundation.
