The Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland was founded by the Rhenish savings banks in 1987 with the aim of promoting culture in the Rhineland . It supports organizations that have a charitable purpose and come from the fields of fine arts, music, dance, literature and cultural history.
Since 1989, the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland has also awarded the Rhineland Culture Prize (the Grand Culture Prize endowed with 30,000 euros and the additional sponsorship prize endowed with 5,000 euros ) to artists and cultural workers who have influenced the Rhenish cultural landscape with their work.
Since 1997, the Youth Culture Prize, endowed with 5,000 euros, has honored cultural institutions and projects for children and young people.
From 1987 to 2012, 11 million euros in funding were distributed.
